Fu-lan, a mandarin teacher between Taiwan and Poland
I majored business administration in university and didn't find my passion in Chinese teaching until working and traveling in Yellowstone National Park for 3 months. After three months preparation for the exams, I was luckily accepted by NTNU (師大), the most prestigious graduate school of teaching Chinese as a second language in Taiwan.
After receiving my master degree, I work as a Chinese instructor in universities in Taiwan and Poland. Now I have been teaching for 13 years, including more than 6 years in on-line tutoring. Thanks to the various experiences, my students range from total beginners to advanced-high learners, from students to experts in different fields. More details of my career on LinkedIn
Many people wonder why I stayed in Poland for so many year. It's simply out of my personal interest -- not for money, but for learning Polish. Polish is one of the most difficult languages for Chinese native speakers. I find it challenging and fascinating.
Staying alone in a country far away from home also broadened my horizons and helped me explore my own mind and possibilities in life. I always appreciate the challenges in everyday life. They make me stronger and keep me humble and curious.
No matter where I am, I try to live in a simple way. (Not a minimalist though.) I am eco-enthusiast, always try to avoid disposable packaging and to shop from second hand stores. I also donate my hair to cancer charities every three years, which saves my time and money and most importantly help people have a better life!
